1703 Oak Street – “Sperry Apartments”

Sperry apartments, circa 2019

This mission style building was constructed in 1925.

Mabel Sperry, daughter of E.L. Sperry, founded the apartments.

On September 10, 1939, the Sarasota Herald Tribune reported:

Miss Mary Bullard has purchased the Sperry apartments on Oak street from the Emma Fritsche estate for $10,000.  The property includes a building with four four-room apartments, four garages, and a cottage on the rear of the lot.  Miss. Bullard plans extensive improvements, including installation of circulating heaters in each apartment, and the addition of new window decorations and furniture.
