El Tropicale operating as daily hotel

The Laurel Park Neighborhood Association has been advised that the property at 1910 Morrill (El Tropicale) is being operated as a hotel, with daily rentals, violating the City’s code requiring a minimum of 7-day occupancies in our neighborhood.

           

The City has issued numerous requests/citations and on Thursday November 4th, will be seeking enforcement of a cease-and-desist order. Through the petition, our voices will matter and help the city’s legal action. 

In addition, the LPNA has submitted a separate letter of support for the City’s efforts and will be attending the hearing.

Laurel Park is an oasis next to the heart of downtown Sarasota. Our community has not maintained its tranquil bygone character by accident, but rather through 30 years of neighborhood activism. Once again we must take action.
