New Play Structure Celebrated at “Tunes”

The children of Laurel Park helped cut a ribbon opening a new play structure at the fall “Tunes in the Park” celebration. The Laurel Park Neighborhood Association worked with Candie Petersen and Jerry Fogle of the City Parks and Recreation Department to design the playground. It includes a central tree trunk with two spiral slides and climbing areas. There is also a new swing set, sand box and grassy play area. They replace an old, dilapidated play structure that had become unsafe. The city also freshened up the landscaping in the park and put down new sod. Rust was removed from the pergola and it got a new coat of paint.

“Tunes in the Park” featuring the band Chameleon, was another big success thanks to Joli McInnis and her family. Planning is already underway for the spring edition of “Tunes”. It will be April 13, 2019.
